2019 Cannes Congress
A crowd of over 300 highly qualified Automotive Experts came together in 2019 to attend the 30st edition of SURCAR CANNES CONGRESS.
This 2-day Technical Conference united international Car Body Finishing Experts at the Hotel Barrière Le Majestic in Cannes (France) to discuss on the evolution of Car Painting since decades.
45 Speakers from Major Car Manufacturers and from Paint Material and Equipment Supplier Companies
The 2-Day conference was composed of 4 Technical Sessions and Panel Discussions: 45 Speakers brought talks about Paint Quality and Attractiveness, Paint Efficiency, Paintshop of the future and Future Mobility.

The Event featured 2 Keynote Speakers who shared their vision on customers’ expectations and how they are paving the way for a future of mobility:
- Jean-Luc Brossard Technical Director LA PLATEFORME AUTOMOBILE
- Isabelle Marchand, Expert Leader Perceived Quality RENAULT
4 Project Presentations were rewarded by the SURCAR European Committee:
- Shinya Otake, Assistant Manager of Toyota Motor Corporation, presented “Super High Transfer Efficiency Application for Body Coating” and was rewarded the Award for Innovation.
- José Rodrigues, Paint Technology Manager and Takahiro Tawata, R&D Engineer of ABB were rewarded as the Award for Technique with their joint-presentation about the Reduced Overspray Painting Process.
- Daniel Pasch and Guillaume Basquin, Paint Engineering Managers at OPEL Automobile and GROUPE PSA co-presented New PSA Paintshop 4.0 and won the Jury’s Awards.
- The Jury’s Awards was also given to a joint-presentation about what Toyota and Lexus Color Strategy was and how achieved their outstanding silver color. The winning presenters were Akira Nishimura, Project Manager from Toyota Motor Corporation and Masahiro Omura, Technical Manager at Kansai Paint.
